Miami Cigar & Company donating cigars for a good cause

If you live in the Miami area or heading there soon, you have an upcoming chance to not only pick up some great cigars, but also help a good cause. Starting last week, February 4th, Marianna and Nestor Miranda of Miami Cigar & Company will be distributing 1,000 cigars total to five different cigar shops in the Miami area. The cigars come from the Nestor Miranda Collection, and any sales proceeds will be donated to the Dade County Police Benevolent Association Love Fund. Each of the five selected shops will be given ten boxes of the cigars, and each box will contain ten cigars. Although the boxes have a retail price of $136, they will be sold for $100, with singles selling for $5 each. The sale will go on until all 1,000 cigars are sold.
The PBA Love Fund, which was created in 1984, is designed to help officers and their families in times of need. Donations made to the fund have been used for psychological counseling dealing with tragedies, funerals, and to help further the education of children of officers killed in the line of duty. The fund has also been used to assist officers who have become ill or have had to deal with other crises. In essence, the Love Fund serves as backup funding for such cases where financial needs are not met.
The recent deaths of two Miami police officers, Amanda Haworth and Roger Castillo, affected many in South Florida, and the Mirandas were no exception. They became aware of the PBA Love Fund, and asked Rene Castaneda, vice president of Miami Cigar, to organize the cigar fundraiser. Once all of the cigars are sold, Miami Cigar will donate the $5,000 in proceeds to the Love Fund with a corporate check. The five Miami shops participating in the event will be listed on the check as recognition for their efforts. If you'd like more details on this event, you can contact Miami Cigar & Company by calling 305-599-3395.
